“I believe that a child (or really, any person) could have the best eating habits in the universe, and possibly still be fat.” - quote from a random blog I couldn’t repost
See, the problem here is that second word: believe. The thing about science is that you can believe whatever the hell you want, and still be wrong.
I feel completely hopeless. I will have no place to live very very soon and it looks like I’m out of options.
…and a lot of things tend to go wrong in my life…
But if that pattern doesn’t repeat, I’m about to buy my dream house with my new husband. I never even saved up a down payment, but we’re getting a 100% loan.
I don’t know where this awesome luck is coming from, but I sure hope it stays until we close escrow!!!
I AM SO EXCITED TO GO ON A ROAD TRIP WITH MY BEST FRIEND TO NEW ORLEANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just 7 days left to get all the last little details in order.
We are packing as MUCH food as we can fit in a huge cooler (and the majority of the cooler foods on our list are surprisingly REALLY healthy) so we can spend most of our money on really important things… like Swap Gator tours and Mardi Gras Beads…
We have a room reserved in a really old “New Orleans” styled Hostel (see above) and we plan on having the BEST BFF road trip of our lives!
Not going to lie though, after researching a lot about the foods in New Orleans... the majority of it does not cater to Vegetarians.. which I am.
So I guess I’ll be surviving off Beignets and the food we bring in our fabulous cooler for the full 5 days haha.
Does anyone know of any delicious/vegetarian Cajun food?
Any suggestions on what we can’t miss when we’re in New Orleans?
I needed to reblog to give more details about my fav veggie options in NOLA!!
Meals from the Heart Cafe is a wonderful little food place in the French Market (1100 N. Peters St). They have yummy burgers, great veggie/rice dishes, they make their own smoothies, and they give you complimentary Cutie oranges to eat while you wait on your food!
Both Labanon’s Cafe (1500 S Carrollton) and Mona’s (504 Frenchman St) are greek/lebanese with the usual options. Hummus, mousaka, falafels, tabouli, etc.
My FAVORITE place to eat is known as 13, or 13 Monahan at 517 Frenchmen St. They have wonderful veggie burgers serves with vegenaise, french fries, and BBQ tofu sandwiches. They also have a breakfast menu with every combination of scrambled eggs (plain, omelets, wraps) you could ever want, AND you can REPLACE THE EGGS WITH TOFU for anything on the menu! Best part is they are open super late, so a great choice for post bar hopping!
The Wandering Buddha (2239 St. Claude Ave) has Korean take-out, August Moon (3635 Prytania) has Chinese/Vietnamese take-out, Juan’s Flying Burrito (2018 Magazine St) has Mexican take-out, and Salt -n- Pepper (400 Iberville St) has Indian/Pakistani take-out.
The Jazmin Cafe (614 S Carrollton Ave) and the Eco Cafe and Bistro (3903 Canal St) have a ton of great options if you want to sit down and enjoy lunch.
O! Vesasm (1200 St Roch Ave) has all-vegan versions of traditional creole and American foods. The hours are limited though. Open Tue-Thur 5pm-10pm, Fri-Sat 5pm-11pm, Sun 11am-3pm, closed Mon.
The only place I wouldn’t recommend is the Green Goddess. They are very expensive for small portions of strange/exotic foods that sound exiting, but don’t actually taste all that good.
i-is this real life…
I don’t even know how to feel after that..
farewell reality
