Thin privilege is knowing that a major brand won’t discontinue your size.

After a phone call and a flurry of emails back and forth, I finally got a straight answer out of someone: Calvin Klein Jeans will no longer be produced in plus sizes. I don’t really wear anything BUT jeans- these were the…

“I am nearly in tears over the fact that I am going to have to search for jeans again” Well as long as you have your priorities striaght.

Thin privilege is not having someone blame your excruciating menstrual issues on your size, based on the fact that you’re a bit overweight, therefore it’s indigestion cause you eat too much and couldn’t possibly be your uterus cramping painfully. It has to be your diet, because it also couldn’t be to do with your hormones or anything else.

Excrucuating menstural issues has to mean either endometriosis or PCOS, right? Both are caused by an excess pf estrogen, so she is right about hormones. Do you know what males your body produce more estrogen? Fat cells.

“Just because you don’t eat animals doesn’t mean you don’t support a cruel system.”

Oh stfu with trying to guilt-trip, meat eaters. It’s NOT going to work.

lol as if meat…

did you really censor fucking vegan? What the actual fuck?

It’s not a censor as one would use in foul language. Veg*n is a way of saying vegan/vegetarian, when you want to specifically include both groups.

Cauliflower is such a versatile vegetable, and can be used as a lighter substitute for a lot of dishes:
Mashed Cauli (instead of potatoes), Cauli rice, cauli as a creamer for creamy soups, and

POPCORN CAULI instead of popcorn chicken.

I’ve never been a fan of popcorn…

I don’t understand why people get so angry at vegans?

We are literally preaching compassion and love.

Why would you not want that? And why would you hate on us for wanting that?

I don’t understand why people get so angry at vegans?

We are literally preaching compassion and love.

Why would you not want that? And why would you hate on us for wanting that?

There is your answer.

Very few show hatred for those PREACHING equality, or access to education, or supplying resources to victims of abuse. Even when people preach these things in an obnoxious manner, it is rarely met with hate. The issue is not the delivery, its the subject matter.

To preach means simply to advocate, and that’s what anyone who actively works for the well-being of others is doing. Preaching does not imply a degree of being obnoxious or an asshole, yet when the subject matter relates to an action that 90% of people do several times a day, people tend to get defensive no matter how the delivery.

In the last decade, I’ve encountered many people who have told me how much they hate vegans because IN THE PAST they’ve had to deal with super crazy nazi vegans who are all extremist and shitty to people and so on. This is often used as a defense for why they chose to be very negative towards me when discussing veganism (a subject that is almost always never raised by me, but by other people who notice what I’m eating). The funny thing is, I live in a fairly small town, and know most of the vegans in it. When I ask about the militant vegan they encountered, they can suddenly never remember any names or details.

But my basic point is this: Just like any group, showing negativity against people for a label that can be put on them, instead of knowing them as individuals before you cast judgement is going to make any situation worse. When you do find yourself talking with a person who does not share your values, either speak to them with kindness and an open mind, or excuse yourself from the conversation. I find a quick “I’m sorry, I don’t mean any offense, but this just isn’t something I wish to discuss right now” works wells in parties where I’m trying to socialize rather than defend my lifestyle choices.

And finally, try to understand where those pesky vegans are coming from, yeah, even the annoying militant ones. Most people just don’t know the many harsh realities of the meat/dairy/wool/testing industries, or the real science behind a plant based diet. So when people find these things out for the first time, and are shocked into a new lifestyle, it’s kinda like finding out soilent green is people. You want to shout it from the rooftops!
